Boardmasters 2015

This was by far one of the best festivals i have ever been to!

Rust, Beth, Jake and myself booked it last minute for Jakes 22nd Birthday thinking the weather was going to be terrible.. and we ended up sunburnt.. result haha!

It was a 2 1/2 hour drive down to Newquay where the festival was held, right on the beach front.

We set up our tents and decided to have a nap as we were up at stupid o’clock for the drive down. (OAPS) HA..

We arrive on the Thursday morning and the festival itself didn’t actually start until the Friday, so we headed down to the beach where they were holding Surfing Competitions. We sat on the beach having a few drinks then headed back up the hill to the festival and stopped in a bar where we had some more drinks..

That night they had a few rides going and the silent disco, we started by sitting around the tent playing card games and some more drinking..

Friday the music started and this carried on until sunday night with the last act, Bastille… which was INCREDIBLE.

We chose to leave Sunday night after Bastille so we would miss all the queuing in the morning to leave the festival. We got home about 3am Monday morning and me and Rusty spent the whole day sleeping and eating so much food haha.

2 really odd things happened to us whilst we were there.. On the Friday night we were waiting to watch Faithless and the boys went to get us some drinks whilst we saved our spot.. they got back and Beth needed to go to the loo so we left them there, as we were trying to get out of this massive crowd something really odd happened (laughing trying to type this).. It was like a human tsunami.. but not a normal one? if that makes sense haha… it wasn’t like anyone got pushed, just out of the blue everyone kind of fell over.. like a bomb had gone off.. it was HILLARIOUS, but it probably doesn’t sound as funny on here.. you had to be there ok. haha. We got back to the boys expecting our drinks.. yet they were covered in them instead.

On the Saturday we were watching Clean Bandit whilst waiting for Rudimental to start.. and this is really embarrassing on our behalf, there was this man stood a few feet in front of us wearing all denim.. including denim shoes and a hat.. we found it hilarious as we were drunk.. and decided to name him, denim on denim on denim. (yeah cringe) anyway.. we are watching Rudimental and all of a sudden… denim on denim on denim is on the stage singing.. he’s only part of Rudimental isn’t he. How awkward.

Some of the acts we saw included-

Clean Bandit

Waze and Odyssey

Lethal Bizzle

Nick Mulvey

and many more.

Things to be thankful for

In life we tend to focus on the things we don’t have rather than the things we do have.

When you think about it there are a lot of things surrounding you that you can be thankful for which you may take for granted on a daily basis.

1. Your parents. They brought you into this world and they do love you more than you probably think.

2. Pets. Unconditional love.

3. Good health. Even if you’re feeling under the weather, just think you are always better off than someone else and you should be extremely thankful for that.

4. Money. A few pounds makes you richer than a lot of people in this world.

5. Having a home. Having a place to call home, no matter where it is, you should be thankful.

6. Laughter. 🙂

7. Sunshine. Bringing warmth to your day.

8. Time. You always think theres not enough of it.

9. Waking up today.

10. Clean water. Many people lack the access to clean water. Be greatful you have it in your home.

11. Love.

12. The freedom to vote. Never take your right to have a say for granted.

13. Sunsets. Enjoy the simple things in life.

14. Security.

15. Breathing fresh air.

I could carry on forever, as there are so many little things that effect our day to day life which we take for granted.

Remember the simple things 🙂

fill your life with happiness :)

Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.

We all strive to find happiness and sometimes it can be tough, but from what i have learnt in the past year of my life is that positivity is key. Having a positive mind is the best way to keep yourself smiling.

‘turn that frown upside down’

Every single one of you will have different things that make you smile and you need to start filling your day with more and more of them. One thing you need to remember in life is that no one wants to see you unhappy.. and if they do you don’t need those people surrounding you because deep down it is probably them causing your unhappiness.

POSITIVITY.. this also means positive people. People with a greater outlook on life, these people will never tell you what is wrong or right, its your life and you make your own choices.. these people will support you no matter what because they have positive minds.

When you’re in that state of mind where you feel exhausted, drained and fragile.. you set yourself to believe that there is no way back to happiness (trust me I’ve been there) but there honestly is.

I created a memory jar.. this may sound silly to some people but i believe it really works for me. Its full of memories from the day i was born until today, and every time i do something i love i will write it down and put it in this jar. My family and friends have also joined in by writing memories we have had together and popping them in the jar, this is such a nice gesture for me as sometimes they are things i can’t remember from my childhood. Every morning i will open the jar and take out a memory. This starts my day off with a smile.

These are a few tips in how i got myself back to a smiler 🙂

1. FAMILY! these people are the most amazing and understanding people, no matter how much you may argue or disagree, they will always be there for you no matter what. My mum is my rock, she supported me so much and i look up to her even more now because it just shows you how much these people around you will always be there even at your darkest times.

2. Money.. does this buy happiness or does it not? this one will be different for everyone, some people believe happiness comes from money and others believe money comes from happiness. In my job i believe that money definitely comes from happiness, the positive vibes you give out to the people around you will excel yourself and possibly your career as people in your workplace will notice your passion and positivity for what you are doing.  I can also agree with money does bring happiness, i see no wrong in treating yourself, going out for dinner or for the day as this will brighten up your mood.

3. A life purpose.. set yourself a goal, where do you see yourself in a years time? aim for that, yes you may fail on the way but what is the harm in trying? Think about what YOU want from YOUR life, and just go for it! There is nothing better than achieving something all by yourself.

4. Relationships, this can be with anyone.. friends, girlfriend, boyfriend, parents, work colleagues. Have a better relationship with the people around you on a day to day basis. Make an effort to interact and find out about other people. I have found that speaking to others really inspired me to go for things which before i would have been to scared to even think about! Getting to know people will then make your everyday life a lot happier as the more people you connect with means the more people you can talk to and talking helps with emotion.

5. HUGS! just have a good cuddle. Hugging increases the feeling of safety, trust, security and self worth. Its a fact that people crave 13 hugs a day, so you better hurry up before the day ends!

6. random acts of kindness.. I’m the type of person who doesn’t give to receive. i LOVE seeing other people happy, i think this is the one thing which makes me happiest of them all. People smiling around you will cause you to smile, smiling is contagious.

when you’re smiling the whole world smiles with you. 🙂

7. DANCING. just dance, try it.. right now. put on some loud music and just dance.

8. Exercise, running may be the solution to feeling good. Not only does exercise keep you fit, it makes you happier in the process. Its a proven fact that just 20 minutes of physical activity will have a positive effect on your mood.

9. And finally, pets. Our pets release oxytocin (also known as the cuddle hormone).. this chemical will reduce stress levels and lower your blood pressure. And the fact is they love you and need you more than anything.

‘take time to do what makes your soul happy’

keep smiling and go with your heart.

Puppy love ♡

Meet poppy, the looooooove of my life. Who needs a man when you have one of these loving companions.

Poppy was the best Christmas present I have ever recieved 3 years ago when she was just 2 months old.

She was so tiny and resembled a Pom Pom, a tiny bundle of fur!

3 years on and she never leaves my side, I literally take her anywhere I possibly can.

Poppy has many different names, it’s never simple with me..

Her main name and one that is actually understandable is ‘pops’ and then they lead on to others such as..

Princess poppy 👑 , tink, wincey, lulu, babypop and many more.. Like I said it’s never simple, just don’t ask.

However I expect many of you that have a dog can relate with me!

Poppy’s favourite things to do include walks, sleeping, kissing and eating. We have a lot in common.

I can honestly say that having a dog has to be one of the most rewarding things in this world as the amount of love that one animal can give you is unconditional. My dog is the one thing I will actually turn soppy about.. Don’t get use to it!
